Husband of G

"Sarah is fantastic, her service offering is unique and tailored to the individual, which is great for the individual and for their loved ones, as gives them the reassurance that they are having an enriched experience, enabling the carer to have an opportunity to have time out. So a win win situation! I speak from experience and would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah".

How is my approach different?

I offer a bespoke service that is currently unique in the Rutland area. Using an holistic approach, and the ability to adapt and transform ideas, I concentrate solely on the client’s wishes. This approach challenges the traditional medical model by emphasising that individuals are not defined by their diagnosis but are unique people with rich histories, preferences, and emotions. I believe that a person's personhood, true values and who they are should be recognized and nurtured as their dementia progresses. I focus on preserving their individuality, dignity, and well-being and validating their emotions, feelings and what they are trying to say, by creating a fun, interesting, anxiety-free and secure environment.

I take time to learn about a person's life history, cultural background, hobbies, and relationships and, thus, providing a bespoke service, focussing on what IS possible and their existing strengths and abilities, rather than what IS NOT. This empowers my clients to maintain a sense of purpose and control over their life for as long as possible. By focussing on the process, not the outcome, a feeling of a sense of achievement and purpose can be achieved, void of pressure.

I listen actively and with empathy, providing reassurance and comfort and paying close attention to both verbal and non-verbal cues so that their reality can be understood and their needs met.

Will my services be right for your situation?
When do I work and where abouts?

My one to one sessions...

My clients can be living with any type of dementia or cognitive impairment. With over 200 different dementias, the number and configuration of the symptoms means that people’s experiences can be very diverse. Therefore, my services can be right for all situations.

As I focus on the process, not the outcome, my goal is to provide stimulation and enjoyment, and not necessarily complete a task. This allows the person to feel a sense of achievement and purpose without the pressure of a deadline or standard.

My clients are given the opportunity to make choices and involve themselves in decision-making whenever possible, enabling them to feel a sense of management, understand their reality and to meet their own needs. Together, we integrate their life and preferences into activities.

My Workshops and Audits...

My workshops and audits are totally bespoke and are designed specifically for the clients involved.

Where might we visit during a session?
